What exactly does the best-before date (BBD) mean?
The best-before date (BBD) indicates the date until which the manufacturer guarantees that the unopened food will retain its specific properties, such as odour, taste and nutritional value, if stored correctly. After the best-before date, only this quality guarantee from the manufacturer has expired.
Expired food does not necessarily have to be disposed of immediately. The best-before date (BBD) should not be confused with the use-by date. Food should not be consumed once the use-by date has passed. The best-before date merely indicates the minimum time until which properties such as taste, smell, colour, consistency and nutritional value of a food product remain unchanged as long as it is stored sealed in its original packaging. Food can often be stored and enjoyed well beyond this date.
Where can I find the best-before date (BBD)?
If you scroll down the respective product page and orientate yourself on the right-hand side, you will find the best-before date below the nutritional information.
Our products generally have a best-before date of between 2-12 months. If a product is not sold out before the best-before date, you can buy it at a lower price after a quality check.
A product cannot be returned due to the best-before date, as this is available to every buyer.
However, if a best before date differs from the best before date stated on the website, please contact our customer support.
